RFID-Technology

Efficient tracking and tracing in the food and textile industry, progress monitoring in production as well as asset management are typical RFID projects of Dresden Informatik GmbH. The RFID technology ranges from simple solutions with mobile hand scanners to complex systems with several RFID gates. In many projects, RFID is a prerequisite for industry 4.0 and for the digitization of production.

Facts, advantages, trends

  • Identification through packaging or optical barriers possible, no optical exposure required
  • Identification despite distances of several meters thanks to passive RFID technology
  • Detection by several transponders (batch capture by anti-collision)
  • 1,000 characters can be stored in the transponder
  • Largely insensitive to environmental influences such as pollution, water, etc.
  • Compatible or combinable with other Ident technologies
  • Encryption, e.g. integration of several user groups or high security areas
  • Data changes in the transponder possible (read/write)
  • Combination with other sensor technology, such as temperature, acceleration (shock and vibration), humidity or inclination
  • Protection against unauthorized data changes
  • Designs largely adaptable
  • easy assembly/ integration
  • long durability

Our recommendations

In particular, we recommend conducting a feasibility study or proof of concept prior to each RFID initial project. This is not only about the basic feasibility. The main objective here is to make the optimal selection of RFID technology from an economic, technical and strategic point of view.

Thanks to years of experience and membership in associations and RFID working groups, we have an excellent and manufacturer-neutral overview of the current RFID readers and transponders on the market.

For the optimal integration of RFID technology into your software and hardware landscape, we offer our customers a powerful middleware: di:ALog link
